Well, it seems that spring is here -at least it has shown up for the past few days (and it’s supposed to stay that way)!  The weather has been gorgeous!!!  We are still waiting for Darrell and Lindsey to have their baby.  Nola really wants Lindsey to get her baby out (we’re trying to teach her that she wants Lindsey to have the baby).  Maybe Nola understands more about the delivery processs than we give her credit for.

We have a gold medal wrestler in our home.  Damon had his final wrestling tournament yesterday.  He wrestled 1 opponent two times.  He won both matches.  He pinned the guy in the second match.  He was quite pleased with himself.  He has gotten a bronze and a silver in the past, but never a gold.  So this was very exciting.  We celebrated by getting ice cream cones at McDonalds.  Damon commented that he thought the other guy was a good sport; even when he lost, he smiled.  Then he thought, maybe the kid realized he would still get a medal.

Nola is getting excited about going to high school.  She visited the high school last on the the 10th.  It was a windy day which she wasn’t excited about -she thinks she’ll blow away.  So, we were getting ready to go to lunch before going to the school.  Nola puts on her coat, zips up her coat all the way up to her nose and has her hood up -but no shoes on.  I zipped down the coat and told her to put on her shoes.  We went to lunch.  Nola did not like the wind walking into the restaurant, but enjoyed the lunch.  After lunch, we went to the restroom.  Nola came out of the stall with her coat zipped up to her nose, and her hood up -but her pants weren’t zipped or buttoned.   She was worried about the wind.  I brought to her attention that she would have bigger problems than the wind if she didn’t button and zip her pants.  Anyway, we had to convince Nola to get out of the car to go up to the school.  It was very windy -I could barely get the car door open.  We got to the classroom, met the class, got a tour and Nola got to participate in their liesure activities class.  Mark and I (Nola, too) like the teacher and the program.

A note on Mark’s dad.  Mark’s dad had his transplant on April 10.  His numbers bottomed out around April 17.  The numbers have to bottom out before they can come up, which is happening now.  The doctors are optimistic that he will be able to go home this week -probably toward the end of the week.  He did have a reaction to something they had given him when the numbers bottomed out and he had a low grade fever.  The reaction happened after the expected time.  He started convulsing, but Mark’s mom was able to get the nurses and nothing serious resulted.  He was in good spirits when Mark talked to him today.  He had been up and about and sounded good.  We praise God for his hand in Mark’s dad’s cancer walk.

Love to everybody,

Laura
